This picture shows the step before the final smooth stucco finish.

We have plasered over the brick, then created the template form we desired, in the scratch coat stage.

It also shows the old antique tile that I had salvaged from a previous job, with the idea of preserving them, to reuse in this manner.

Stucco
Many people are remodeling their fireplaces and updating them with a stucco finish.
A stucco fireplace is the perfect choice for not only a contemporary fireplace design, but is very popular because of  the American Southwest look and cozy feel.  In San Diego, stucco fireplaces are sometimes referred to as a Spanish style fireplaces or Tuscan style fireplaces.  A stucco fireplace works very well with  Mexican terracotta tiles and the bold colors of decorative ceramic tile accents..

Stucco is a very durable material and can be used to construct outdoor fireplaces and indoor fireplaces in various finishes from smooth to textured and in many colors.



What’s The Difference Between Stucco and Plaster?
 

Stucco tends to go on the outside of a building and is made of a material made to withstand the elements of nature. Plaster, on the other hand, is typically used indoors and has a smoother finish for an elegant look.
